Typical Implementation: VM as DSC Server

In a typical DSU system implementation in which the database nodes are running DSA Network Client (ClientHandler) and the VM is used as the DSC server, the following describes the implementation workflow:
  1. Deploy the VM. The Teradata Instance for DSC repository has been pre-installed. See Teradata Vantage on VMware on DSU.
  2. Install ClientHandler on all NewSQL Engine / Teradata Database nodes. See Installing the ClientHandler Package.
  3. If your target is EMC Data Domain, install AXMDDBoost on all NewSQL Engine / Teradata Database nodes. See Installing the AXMDDBoost Package or use PUT for multiple nodes.
  4. If your target is AWS, install AXMS3 on all NewSQL Engine / Teradata Database nodes. See Installing the AXMS3 Package.
  5. If your target is Azure, install AXMAzure on all NewSQL Engine / Teradata Database nodes. See Installing the AXMAzure Package.
  6. Install the BAR portlets on the Viewpoint server. See Installing the BARPortlets Package.

Managed Storage Server as Storage, DSC Server, and Media Server

The following describes the implementation workflow for a managed storage server as DSC server solution:
  1. Install DSC software component on the managed storage server. See Installing the DSC Package.
  2. Install ClientHandler on the managed storage server. See Installing the ClientHandler Package.
  3. Install BARCmdline on the managed storage server. See Installing the BARCmdline Package.
  4. Install the BAR portlets on the Viewpoint server. See Installing the BARPortlets Package.
