  • A 2+0 clique consists of:
    • Two Teradata processing nodes
    • One disk array
  • A 4+0 clique consists of:
    • Four Teradata processing nodes
    • Two disk arrays
    • [Optional] Channel server

The number and location of optional components in a base cabinet depends on the type of power used (ABCD).

2850 Platform Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance Maximum of one optional 2850 system (2+0 clique or 4+0 clique):
  • A 2+0 clique consists of the following:
    • Two Teradata processing nodes
    • One disk array
  • A 4+0 clique consists of the following:
    • Four Teradata processing nodes
    • Two disk arrays
    • [Optional] Channel server

The number and location of optional components in a base cabinet depends on the type of power used (ABCD).

Server Management Switches Each cabinet contains two 26-port 1 Gb Ethernet switches for connecting nodes, servers, 680 disk arrays, 2800 or 2850 disk arrays, and Lenovo G8272 switches to the Server Management network.
Customer LAN Switch [Optional] Lenovo G8272 48-port (48 10 Gb SFP+ and 6 x 40 Gb) Ethernet switch for connecting nodes to the customer network. Server Management manages the switch.
Teradata Managed/Multipurpose Server (TMS) Dell R730 or R730xd used for solution offerings that are peripheral to Teradata processing.

All TMSs have onboard connectivity to the Server Management network.

The server can also be connected to the InfiniBand switches, if ports are available.

SAS High-Performance Analytics (HPA) Worker Node Dell server configured for SAS HPA in-memory software.
BAR Hardware See 9400 Cabinet for information about using BAR hardware.
BYNET Interconnect Redundant BYNET switches using BYNET InfiniBand for Teradata processing node and channel server communication. Available in base and expansion cabinets.
  • Maximum of two cabinets
  • Up to 18 nodes per cabinet
  • Nodes connect to 36-port switches in base or expansion cabinets
Adapters InfiniBand network adapters:
  • Mellanox MCX354A-FCBT (ConnectX-3) InfiniBand PCIe3 adapter in nodes, channel servers, and TMS [optional]
Optional network communication adapters:
  • 1 Gb Ethernet, PCIe2, I350-T4, quad-port, Copper
