You must create a unique alias for every server with DNS, or in the host files, to ensure that all servers in the automatic failover cluster can connect to each other. The unique alias allows you to reconfigure automatic failover without needing a new IP address when the IP address of a server changes.
  1. Define all the servers in the cluster by creating a unique alias in the DNS or the host files. IP addresses in /etc/hosts file should be defined if using host file method.
  2. Add an entry to the /etc/hosts original-master and designated-slave servers to ensure that the local server resolves to a publicly accessible IP address instead of 127.0.0.1. This is to allow ARCMAIN to run on a remote Data Mover agent and connect its socket connection to the Data Mover daemon.
