Defining a Workload from DBQL XML Statements

You can create a new workload from statements that are logged in the DBC.DBQLXML table. Data rows that are logged by enabling query logging with XML statements are retrieved for workload creation.

To create a workload from DBQL XML statements

1 Click Workload > Create > From DBQL XML Statements.

The Define Workload from DBQL XML Statements dialog box appears.

2 In the QCD Name box, enter the QCD for the workload or click the QCD Name arrow for a list of available QCDs.

3 In the Workload Name box, enter the workload name for the new workload you want to create.

4 Under Select DBQL option, click DBQL (selected by default) to create the workload by browsing XML statements that are logged in the DBC.DBQLXMLTBL table or click External Database to create the workload by browsing workload queries from an external database.

5 Click Views to retrieve the statements from views in the database, or click Tables to retrieve the statements from tables in the database.

6 Click Next. The Select Criteria dialog box appears.

Note: If the QCD name you previously entered does not exist, a message appears asking if you want to create the QCD. Click Yes to create the QCD, or click No to select an existing QCD.

7 Fill in the options under Select Criteria as described in the following table.

Step Count

Specifies the minimum number of steps for the queries retrieved from the DBQL.

Result Rows

Specifies the minimum number of rows returned for the queries retrieved from the DBQL

Note: This option is not available if connected to a V2R5 system.

Select Users and Accounts

Click to open the Select Users and Accounts dialog box and create workloads from queries submitted by a set of users or accounts. All users and accounts are selected by default.

To select a user, enter the user name in the Select User box and then click Add. You can also click List Users to list all users in the Select User list box. Select a name and then click Add.

To select an account, enter an account in the Select Account box and then click Add. You can also click List Accounts to list all the accounts. Select an account and click Add.

To remove users or account names from the lists, select the user or account name in the list, and then click Remove.

Select Date

Start Date

Select a start date (in the YYYY-MM-DD format) to search for queries created on or after the specified date. If a start date is not specified, all statements from the DBQL are loaded.

End Date

Select an end date (in the YYYY-MM-DD format) to search for queries created on or before the specified date. If a start date is specified but no end date is specified, all statements from the DBQL from the start date until present are loaded.

Select Time

Start Time

Enter a start time in the HH-MM-SS format to search for queries created on or after the specified start time. If a start time is not specified, the default start time of 00:00:00 is used.

End Time

Enter an end time in the HH-MM-SS format to search for queries created on or before the specified end time. If an end time is not specified, the default end time of 13:59:59 is used.

Select QueryBand

Name

Enter the name of a Query Band Name-Value pair.

For more information about SET QUERY_BAND, refer to SQL Data Definition Language.

Value

Enter the value of a Query Band Name-Value pair.

Filter

Enter wild card characters, such as asterisk (*) or a question mark (?) to load with query band names and the corresponding values.

List Names

Click to list all the Query Band Names in the Name-Value list.

Add

Click to add the selected Query Band Name-Value pair to the Name-Value list.

Rem

Click to remove the selected Query Band Name-Value pair from the Name-Value list.

8 Click Next.

The Workload Definition via DBQL dialog box appears with a list of the queries retrieved from the DBQL.

To remove a query, select it from the ResRows list and click Remove.

9 [Optional] Click Additional Criteria to view and edit the SQL statements in the Statement Text Dialog box.

10 Click Back to return to the previous dialog box.

11 Click Finish to create the workload with the selected queries.
