Updating an Existing Workload

You can update a workload that has already been created by using the Update Existing Workload option. You can add additional SQL statements or make other changes, then re-define the workload.

To update an existing workload

1 Click Workload > Update Existing Workload

The Update Existing Workload dialog box opens.

2 Select the workload to update by selecting the QCD and workload in the dialog box.

The following table explains the dialog box options.

Option	Description
Workload Statements
QCD Name	Enter the QCD name to be browsed for SQL statements.
Workload Name	Enter the workload or click to browse for workloads.
Statement field	Shows the Query ID, frequency, and statement text.
Add Statements
Add Statement options	Use Add Statements field to add additional QCD statements to an existing workload. The Browse button opens a dialog box based on the additional workload statement source. Use the dialog box to select the additional statement. Types of statements include: QCD Statements Statement Text Other Workloads For more information about these dialog boxes, see “Add Statements Options” on page 76. The Browse button opens a window based on the workload choice Note: Only highlighted statements are included in the workload definition.
Update	Updates the workload with the selected statements from the list.

3 Select the type of update information you want, QCD Statement, Statement Text, Other Workloads, and click Browse.

The Add QCD Statements dialog box opens allowing you to choose the statements to add to the existing workload.

4 Click Add to List.

The selected statements are added to the existing workload.

5 Close the Add QCD Statements dialog box.

6 In the Update Existing Workload dialog box, and click Update.

Teradata Index Wizard updates the workload with the new statements and opens the Workload Definition Summary window showing the new workload.

7 Click OK to close the window.

The workload is now loaded into the workload cache and is ready to be analyzed. For more information, see “Chapter 6 Analysis” on page 81.

You can also perform a what-if analysis (see “What-if Analysis” on page 91) or validate the index recommendation (see “Chapter 8 Validation” on page 123).
