What is CLIv2?

Teradata Call-Level Interface Version 2 for Workstation-Attached Systems (CLIv2, hereafter referred to as CLI unless otherwise noted), is a collection of callable service routines that provide the interface between applications and the Teradata Gateway. Gateway is the interface between CLI and the Teradata Database.

CLI sends requests to the Teradata Database and provides the application with a response returned from the system.

CLI provides support for:

  • Managing multiple serially‑executed requests on a session
  • Managing multiple simultaneous sessions to the same, or different, Teradata Databases
  • Using cooperative processing so that the application can perform operations on the client and the Teradata Database simultaneously
  • Generally insulating the application from details in communicating with a Teradata Database
