Run Length

Usage Notes

For existing applications that set the Connect Type to R, if Run Pointer field is not zero, the application program, before calling DBCHCL for the Connect function, must set the value of Run Length to the length of the run string whose address is in Run Pointer.

If the connect-type is set to C, a logon parcel will be built based on the value set in Run Length.

  • If the value is 16 or less, the LSN and Function fields in the connect parcel are set to zero and run string in the connect parcel is left justified (in 16 bytes) and spaced-filled to the right.
  • If the value is 17 to 24, what the Run Pointer points to is moved into a connect parcel, left justified and zero-filled to the right.
