To provide redundancy for your application, Azure recommends you group two or more VMs in an availability set to ensure at least one VM is available during either a planned or unplanned maintenance event.
If you are deploying VMs from an image, you must specify an availability set. If you are deploying Teradata products using the Teradata ecosystem solution template, an availability set is automatically created when the VMs are deployed.
