A formatted record, in the Teradata Database world, consists of a record created by a Teradata Database utility, such as BTEQ, where the record is packaged with beginand end-record bytes specific to the Teradata Database. Unformatted records are any records not originating on a Teradata Database These files contain records that must be defined before loading onto the Teradata Database.
