When the value for Response-mode is not appropriate for the application, you should perform the following procedure before calling DBCHCL for Connect, RunStartUp, Initiate with Protocol-function, or Initiate Request:
  1. Set Change-options to ‘Y‘.
  2. Change the value for Response-mode as follows.
Unless a new application must support old versions of Teradata Database, which would reject its use, Response-mode should always be set to ‘M‘. The CLIv2 Query routine QEPILOB (or QEPIASL) can be used to ascertain if Teradata Database supports this enhancement.
If the response is to be packaged in this mode... Then change the value for Response-mode to...
    Field F
    Record R
    MultipartIndicator M
    Indicator I

Use mnemonics for the codes. Mnemonics are provided in the language definition file for the DBCAREA.
