The Teradata Managed Server cabinet can be configured as a single-purpose cabinet for BAR configurations, TMS applications, channel servers and/or ECS servers, and Service Workstation(s) (for servicing and maintenance of a Teradata system).
In addition, the Teradata Managed Server cabinet can be configured for multiple uses. See Multiple-Purpose Cabinet Descriptions for the options available in multi-purpose cabinet builds.
The placement of the hardware components in a single-purpose cabinet follows these general cabinet build conventions:- Each chassis has a standard position in the cabinet, and is numbered from the bottom up.
-
Chassis that are managed over the server management network have assigned chassis ID numbers. The chassis ID number identifies the chassis by position/type in the management interface.
- Unmanaged chassis are numbered by position for cabling purposes only. The numbers do not appear in the management interface as identification of the chassis.
-
- The general build sequence is from bottom up.
- If the configuration includes one or more Dell R730 TMSs, the cabinet holds a maximum of 6 TMSs.
- If the configuration includes one or more Dell R730xd TMSs or TMSSs, the cabinet holds a maximum of 6 TMSs or TMSSs.
- Ethernet switches are loaded and accessible only from the rear of the cabinet. All other chassis are loaded from the front of the cabinet, and accessible from both front and rear.
