Prerequisite
Download the Teradata_DSC ova file. See Downloading Teradata DSC for VMware for DSU.
The vSphere environment must already be set up.
- Connect to the vSphere Client through a vCenter server.
- On the Home tab, under Inventories, select Hosts and Clusters.
- In the Navigator pane, right-click a host and select Deploy OVF Template.
- At the Source, Select source step, click Local file, browse to the .ova file, and click Next.
- At the Destination, Select name and folder step, select the name and location for the deployed template and click Next.
- At the Setup Networks step, make sure the destination is a public network and click Finish.Wait for the deployment to complete.
- [Optional] To use a private DSU network, follow these steps:
- In the Navigator pane, right-click the VM and select Edit Settings.
- On the Virtual Hardware tab, select New Network.
- For New device select Network.
- From the VM Network menu, select the switch corresponding to your DSU private network.
- Verify that the network adapter has an MTU setting of 9000.
- Click OK.
- In the Navigator pane, right-click the VM and select .
- On the Summary tab, click Launch Remote Console.If VRMC is not installed, click the small window labelled Powered On, and the console opens in a new tab of the web browser.
- On the console screen, log in.linux login: rootPassword: iumb123
- After login, configure the network:
- Run this command:# config-network-dsu
- Enter the required information following the onscreen instructions.
After the fields have been entered, the VM restarts. If a setting needs to be corrected, the command can be re-run.After the VM has restarted, you can SSH into it using its public IP address. - Run this command:
- SSH to the server (root/iumb123) and note your timezone value from /root/tvme/LinuxTimeZoneStrings.txt.cat /root/tvme/LinuxTimeZoneStrings.txt
- On the VM console, configure the system:
- Run this command:# config-system-dsu
- Enter the required information following the onscreen instructions.
- When the fields are filled out, type END and press Enter.
- If this is an upgrade, run modify_dsc_name.sh and enter a different hostname from the previous version when asked for the new DSC name.
DSC and the other DSU packages start running automatically.If a setting needs to be corrected, the command can be re-run. - Run this command:
- [Optional] Configure a TPA node as a media server.
