Workload management is the management of workload performance by prioritizing workload requests, monitoring system activity, and acting when predefined limits are reached.

Workload management uses rules to classify requests. Workloads management rules are useful for the following:
  • Setting different access priorities for different types of requests.
  • Monitoring resource usage patterns, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
  • Limiting the number of requests or sessions that can run at the same time.

Defining Workload Management Rules

Define your workload rules in Teradata Active System Management (TASM), which is enabled in Teradata Viewpoint. For information on TASM, see Teradata® Database Workload Management User Guide, B035-1197 and for information on Teradata Viewpoint, see Teradata® Viewpoint User Guide, B035-2206.
