The 2850 appliance supports up to 72 cabinets using a daisy-chain topology for Server Management connections.
Server Management Network Example for 22 Cabinets
- This configuration is built on the cabinet and collective topology defined in Collectives.
- This configuration example illustrates topology for up to 22 cabinets.
- This configuration example could be expanded to additional cabinets by connecting the cabinets to the server management switches in cabinets 7 through 22.
- Each cabinet shown above represents a collective. The collective may include Platform Framework Cabinets (not shown).
- Separate primary and secondary paths ensure network redundancy.
- The primary and secondary networks are configured as follows:
- The primary Ethernet switch in the first cabinet connects to primary switches in cabinets 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Cabinets 3, 4, 5, and 6 connect to additional cabinets in the configuration as needed.
- The secondary Ethernet switch in the second cabinet connects directly to secondary switches in cabinets 1, 6, 3, 4, and 5. Cabinets 6, 3, 4, and 5 connect to additional cabinets in the configuration as needed.
- For the primary network, Cabinet 2 provides the UDA connections.
- For the secondary network, Cabinet 1 provides the UDA connections.
- If the system is included in a UDA environment, ports are reserved on the primary and secondary server management switches for UDA connections to the other system or systems in the UDA environment. These UDA connections are not shown in the illustration above. For more information, see the Teradata Unified Data Architecture InfiniBand and Server Management Configuration Guide, B035-6001.
- For port-to-port cabling, see the appropriate Hardware Installation Guide.
The following tables provide cable connections for a maximum configuration of 72 cabinets:
