Both the ARC utility and DSA manage saving and rebuilding all join and hash indexes as part of the archive and restore operations. For further details, see Teradata Archive/Recovery Utility Reference, B035-2412 and Teradata Data Lab User Guide, B035-2212.
If a system running Teradata Database release 14.10 or later is backed up using DSA, join and hash indexes are likewise programmatically archived and rebuilt. For more information, see Teradata Data Stream Architecture User Guide, B035-3150.
The ARC utility performs join and hash index maintenance during the build portion of a restoration job. If the restoration fails before completion, all join index, hash index, and statistics information is lost unless the entire job is restarted from the beginning.
DSA performs join and hash index maintenance during the post-script phase of a restoration job, and statistics maintenance during the dictionary phase. As long as the restoration reaches the data phase of restoration, statistics information is not lost if the job subsequently fails.
