TDP2335 BLOCKS LIMITED: count, STORAGE LIMITED: count

Explanation:

In response to a TDP 'DISPLAY CP DETAIL' command, this message provides I/O buffer information for the output device. The number of times a buffer was not added to an I/O because it exceeded the maximum number of blocks, and the number of times a buffer was not added to an I/O because it exceeded the maximum amount of CP or NP storage are displayed. These counts are reset each time the communication protocol is established (such as when the Teradata Database restarts). This message appears only when one of the counts is not zero.

Notes:

The maximum number of blocks for an I/O is used to control the use of TDP virtual storage, not throughput. Exceeding this limit does not reflect any problem, incurs no significant delay since the data is simply added to the next I/O, and is often often exceeded during normal operation. The limit can be displayed using the TDP DISPLAY CCU command, and changed using the TDP CONFIG CP MAXBLKNM or CONFIG NP MAXBLKNM command. Changing this limit is intended for use by Development personnel. Changing the values could greatly increase virtual storage requirements, and when that storage must be fixed for the I/O, real storage requirements. The maximum amount of storage is used to balance the use of TDP virtual storage against throughput. Exceeding this limit may or may not impact throughput: if the CP or NP has at least one buffer to send a request, there is no significant delay since the remaining data is simply added added to the next I/O; if there is no buffer, then throughput will be impacted since the I/O must be delayed until another CP or NP frees a buffer upon completion of its I/O. The limit can be displayed using the TDP DISPLAY CCU command, and changed using the TDP CONFIG CP MAXBLKSZ or CONFIG NP MAXBLKSZ command. Changing this limit is intended for use by Development personnel. Changing the values could greatly increase virtual storage requirements, and when that storage must be fixed for the I/O, real storage requirements.
