Instead of storing the intermediate result between two steps of a query on temporary spools, Teradata Vantage transfers rows from one step to another and pipelines the the nonblocking operations, without changing the behavior of the Optimizer and the step processing logic in the AMPs.

- If many concurrent queries execute pipelined steps, CPU usage may increase.
