The WITHSPOOL option of the Ferret SCANDISK command causes SCANDISK to check all spool data cylinders in the file system in addition to checking the non-spool data.
With this feature, if WITHSPOOL is not specified, no spool cylinders are checked by SCANDISK. However, if SCANDISK option MI is specified, the entire master index is always scanned, including spool cylinders.
Benefits
- Faster disk file system scans for the Ferret SCANDISK command by default (unless user uses WITHSPOOL or MI options).
- Scan times can be much faster on systems that have a lot of spool data - a lot of queries being processed.
- More focused scan results that do not include spool errors.
