For varchar columns without a length limitation (for example, varchar(-1) or text), the ODBC driver truncates the value with a length specified by MaxLenVarchar. By default, the max length returned of varchar is 8192.
If you need to retrieve the whole varchar data through the ODBC driver, you must set the MaxLenVarchar to a proper value in the odbc.ini files.
To set this up:
- On Solaris, see the discussion of the odbc.ini file in Install the unixODBC Driver Manager.
- On Linux or AIX, see Configure DataDirect Driver Manager on Linux and AIX.
- On Windows, see varchar Data Settings in Windows.
