Inter-Cabinet Server Management Network for System with Maximum 162 Nodes (36-Port Switches)

  • This configuration is built on the cabinet and collective topology defined in Collectives.
  • This configuration illustrates topology for one to nine processing/storage cabinets.
  • The System VMS in the base cabinet (Cabinet 1) hosts the SWS VM, Viewpoint VM, and CMIC VM. The Cabinet VMS in the expansion cabinet hosts the CMIC VM.
In systems with an Enterprise SWS and an Enterprise Viewpoint Server, the System VMS hosts only a CMIC VM.
  • Separate primary and secondary server management network paths ensure network redundancy.
  • The primary network is configured as follows:
From the following: To the following primary Ethernet switches:
    The System VMS Cabinet 1
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 1 Cabinets 2, 3, and 4
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 3 Cabinets 5 and 6
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 5 Cabinets 7 and 8
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 6 Cabinet 9
  • The secondary network is configured as follows:
From the following: To the following secondary Ethernet switches:
    The Cabinet VMS Cabinet 2
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 2 Cabinets 1, 3, and 4
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 4 Cabinets 5 and 6
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 5 Cabinet 9
The primary Ethernet switch in Cabinet 6 Cabinets 7 and 8
  • If the system is included in a UDA environment, UDA ports will be accommodated by open ports on the primary and secondary server management switches for UDA connections to the other system or systems in the UDA environment. These UDA connections are not shown in the illustration above. For more information, see the Teradata Unified Data Architecture InfiniBand and Server Management Configuration Guide, B035-6001.
  • For port-to-port cabling, see the appropriate Hardware Installation Guide.
