The SCANDISK command requests that the file system validate its internal structures and report any discrepancies it may find.
During an upgrade procedure, SCANDISK is run several weeks prior to the upgrade during the preparation phase. You may optionally run the utility again a week or so before the upgrade, and immediately after the upgrade. Running SCANDISK while users are logged on reduces the time the system is unavailable due to the upgrade. However, system performance may be degraded while this command is running.
SCANDISK is part of the Teradata Database Ferret utility.
