Teradata Generic Security Services (TDGSS) is the software subsystem that manages Teradata Vantage Analytics Database network security. TDGSS is directly involved in:
- User authentication and authorization
- Encryption of network traffic
- Enforcement of security policy
TDGSS simplifies security management by providing:
- Configurable authentication mechanisms
- Option to provision and manage users in an LDAPv3-compliant directory
- Tools to configure and administer security functions
TDGSS is an extension of the industry-standard GSS-API, as defined by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Request for Comments (RFC) 2743, “Generic Security Service Application Program Interface Version 2, Update 1.”
