The Branch and Merge nodes support parallel paths. By definition, all workflow nodes must have success paths set up. When you use the Branch and Merge nodes in a workflow, failure paths default to the Merge node to resolve the condition. You can explicitly set up a failure path to complete a specific action; the Workflows module ignores the failure so that the other nodes in the path can be analyzed.
