The database can simultaneously process multiple requests from one or more applications, automatically managing the processors to optimize an application-initiated Teradata SQL request. No special programming is necessary to take advantage of the parallel processing capabilities of the database.
Performance improvements can be achieved by programming an application to overlap the processing of more than one Teradata SQL request at a time. The following sections discuss three techniques that enable an application to overlap the processing of Teradata SQL requests:
- Multi-statement management
- Multi-request management
- Multi-session management
