This operation can be run only in Teradata Support Mode.

The Configure Storage Module operation allows you to configure supported storage arrays during module test. The operation creates volumes on an attached array based on the array module that is selected in the Select Array Model step. Communication is through out-of-band connection to the array controllers.

The Configure Storage Module operation:
  • Deletes all existing volumes on the array
  • Creates volumes and sets cache parameters based on the I/O guidelines for the selected array
  • Results in complete data loss
  • Does not check whether Teradata is using storage
  • Does not issue a Reboot Nodes command, which is required for the nodes to see newly-created volumes
Use Configure Storage Module to expand diskpools. When choosing to expand a diskpool, additional drives found in the array are added to the existing diskpool. The following apply:
  • You do not need to reboot when the diskpool expansion completes
  • Existing volumes remain intact and no data is lost
  • Volumes are re-balanced across the diskpool, incorporating the new drives
  • Make sure re-balancing is complete before configuring Teradata to create additional volumes in the expanded diskpool

Re-balancing can take up to four hours.

In relation to package requirements/restrictions, the Configure Storage Module operation:
  • Is supported only on Linux systems
  • Requires teradata-jre8
  • Does not require installation of Teradata packages
