For the Install/Upgrade Software operation, there are two available Configuration modes: Typical and Custom.
| Configuration Mode | Description |

| Typical | If Teradata software is being installed, PUT automatically switches to the Teradata versions that are being installed. |
| Custom | If Teradata software is being installed, PUT displays the Switch Database Versions screen for user input. You must use Custom mode for Teradata major version upgrades that require conversion scripts to run, for example, Teradata 12 to 13, 13 to 14, 14.00 to 14.10, and so on.
